We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Solar PV Electrician to join our installation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the electrical installation, testing, and commissioning of solar PV systems, ensuring every project is delivered to the highest technical and safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced renewable energy environment, contributing directly to the delivery of high-quality solar installations.
The ideal applicant will hold a recognised electrical qualification, have hands-on experience with solar PV installations, and bring a strong understanding of wiring regulations and site safety within a technical, construction, or renewable energy setting.
Duties
• Install, wire, and connect solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, mounting structures, DC/AC cabling, and associated electrical equipment across commercial and/or domestic sites.
• Carry out first and second fix electrical work in line with BS 7671 (18th Edition) Wiring Regulations and MCS installation standards.
• Perform electrical testing and inspection, including insulation resistance, polarity, and earth continuity checks, and complete accurate test certificates and handover documentation.
• Commission solar PV systems safely, ensuring correct operation and optimal performance before handover to the client.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on new and existing installations, carrying out repairs and remedial work as required.
• Liaise closely with site managers, project engineers, and other trades to ensure installations progress safely and to programme.
• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding on existing solar PV systems.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations, safe isolation procedures, and company policies, including safe working at height.
• Provide guidance and on-site support to apprentices or less experienced electricians.
Qualifications
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) with a valid ECS/JIB Gold Card.
• 18th Edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations qualification (C&G 2382) is essential.
• MCS accreditation, or proven equivalent experience installing and commissioning solar PV systems, is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety standards, safe isolation procedures, and safe working at height.
• Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to project sites as required.
• CSCS card (or equivalent), with IPAF/PASMA certification desirable.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, safe installations.
