Commercial Battery Storage
Commercial battery storage can aid the saving potential of solar systems for businesses with specific usage habits. If your energy usage is high at night, battery storage could significantly boost your savings.

We couldn’t be happier with the process and are now saving £300,000 per year on our electricity costs.
We’d highly recommend considering commercial solar.
How batteries aid your commercial solar system
Saving big on high energy costs
Energy costs are set to rise by XX% per year until 2030. Hedging against this near certainty will lead to large cost deductions.
Reducing grid reliance and cost volatility
2021 and 2022 exposed many businesses to their reliance on the grid and vulnerability to price changes. Solar reduces your exposure.
Reducing carbon footprint by thousands of kilograms
With Net Zero targets putting many businesses under pressure to reduce their carbon footprint, battery storage serves as a brilliant vehicle to do so.
Immediate savings potential with PPA
With Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), businesses can reduce costs in their first year with £0 upfront payment.
Should batteries always be installed with commercial solar systems?
The need for batteries depends on your business’s nature and energy usage.
Providers claiming all systems should be installed with dedicated battery storage are unfortunately misguided.
We conduct many consultations where the addition of battery storage would significantly increase the payback period and reduce overall savings from the system as a whole.
Sometimes, our clients do not have visibility over the full picture at the point of consultation.
In these cases, we often install the solar system without any accompanying battery storage solutions but with monitoring and technologies in place that will allow us to make a better judgement in 6-12 months time.
Should the data show that a battery storage solution would provide a significant return on investment (financial, ecologically etc.), then we will retrofit a storage system at no additional cost compared to installing it initially.
This approach ensures our clients have full visibility of the impact of their long-term decisions and allows us to be confident in our projections.
Would battery storage benefit my business?
While no two systems are the same, there are some typical characteristics of businesses that we would expect to significantly benefit from the addition of a battery storage system alongside a commercial solar system.
That said, we always recommend seeking expert counsel so that the data is there to void any assumptions made.
ThermoFisher cut energy costs by 15% without any upfront or ongoing costs
Custodian Capital are one of our repeat clients and partners. By installing an 830 kW solar system on one of their properties, they were able to pass on a 15% reduction in energy costs to ThermoFisher.
This is under a common arrangement called a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) whereby an asset manager will fund and maintain an installation under an agreement to sell the energy at a reduced rate to the property user.

G100 defines the parameters of Export and Import Limitation Schemes. It therefore enables a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) to define import and export limitations on a grid connection.
Yes, depending on your business’s growing energy needs, additional solar panels or battery storage can be integrated into your existing system. This can be discussed and adjusted within your PPA agreement to ensure you continue to maximise savings and efficiency.
Our PPAs come with performance guarantees. If the system underperforms, we will assess and rectify the issue at no additional cost to you. Maintenance and system optimisation are included in the agreement, ensuring that you only pay for the energy that the solar system produces.
No, our PPAs are fully transparent. There are no hidden fees or unexpected costs.
At the end of the agreement, you may choose to extend the PPA, purchase the system, or have it removed at no cost.
Yes, many PPAs offer buyout options or flexible terms, which can be negotiated during the agreement process.
